Merri-bek City Council has been read. Under the Moreland City Council General Local Law 2018, consolidated version incorporating the General (Amendment) Local Law 2025:
Merri-bek prohibits camping in or on any public place other than in accordance with a permit. The local law still carries the council’s former name, Moreland.
Unless in accordance with a permit, a person must not camp in or on any public place.
The council was renamed from Moreland in 2022 but the local law was not: it is still the Moreland City Council General Local Law 2018, amended in 2025. A reader searching for a Merri-bek local law will not find one.
