Where can you sleep tonight?
The closest places where a published rule lets you stop, or nothing prohibits it — each with the rule that applies there.
Your location stays in this browser. The list is worked out here — nothing about where you are is sent to this site, and nothing is saved on this device. The map draws its tiles from OpenFreeMap, which like any map host sees the area you are looking at.

What your rights areWhat the finder covers
2,328 places across 333 council areas, from the road authorities' own registers. It leaves out anywhere a published rule prohibits staying overnight, and shows the rule for everywhere else: being listed is not permission to camp, and in New South Wales the rule says you must not. That is why Western Australia has 44 entries and not 1,673: there, camping in a vehicle is an offence except where a sign says otherwise.
The law differs by state in kind, not degree. Queensland permits a 20-hour stop, New South Wales lets you stop at rest areas but says not to camp in them, South Australia has no State law against it, and Western Australia bans it unless signed. Each place links to the rule that applies to it.
Every legal statement here carries its source: the instrument or official page, the exact wording, and the date it was checked. Where a rule has not been read yet the page says unknown, which is never permission. There are no crowd-sourced spots on this site and never will be — rules, not spots.
